In June, I sat down with Iraq veteran and rock musician John Preston for an interview in which we discussed war, rock music and veteran suicide. During this interview, John struck me as one of those rare people that are relentless in their pursuit of their goals, the kind of relentless drive that scares most people. It’s the kind of drive that many veterans possess as a by-product of their military service.

As we spoke, I began to have a realization: This guy is a star.

A lot has happened since June. Perhaps the biggest development is that John Preston has signed with a major record label, Concore Entertainment/Universal Music Group. His newest single, “Before I am Gone” pre-releases September 5.

John’s new record is already making the rounds on European radio and is charting extremely well. Concore Entertainment feels confidant that they made a good investment. According to Concore Entertainment CEO Charve Norris, “My thoughts were that this guy is amazing and I need to get things going with him as soon as possible.”

As for John, he is extremely humble. A man on a mission to end veteran suicide, he says that he feels extremely blessed to be able to bring this message to the masses.

Most importantly, John will be donating 100% of his profits for this album to Stop Soldier Suicide. He is an artist that actually puts his money where his mouth is.
