This month, the School of Business at American Military University (AMU) introduced seven new degree and certificate programs. These new undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to enhance your skills in business analytics, technical management and accounting.

Business Analytics Degrees Geared Toward Data-Driven Decision Making

For students in health management, retail, engineering and similar career fields, our Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics and the Master of Science in Applied Business Analytics enable you to understand and leverage big data. These analytics programs help you acquire the data management skills needed to drive organizational decisions and solve business problems.

Knowledge of business analytics is a valuable skill in today’s data-driven business environment. According to Dean Chad Patrizi, “At least 98 percent of employers believe business graduates need to know how to use data to drive decisions, according to a 2013 survey by the Graduate Management Admission Council. This suggests that this competency should expect to see superior growth in demand for the foreseeable future.”

Technical Management Programs to Enhance Leadership Skills

Students planning for management or supervisory positions in technical fields may be interested in either the Undergraduate Certificate in Technical Management or the Associate (AAS) and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Technical Management. The certificate develops your expertise in the design, development and integration of business systems.

Both the associate and bachelor’s degrees enhance the knowledge you gained through previous education and work experience in technical fields. The associate degree is designed to help you improve your knowledge in design and systems integration. The bachelor’s degree offers management training in the theories, concepts and practices necessary to organize, motivate and lead human capital.

Undergraduate and Graduate Certificates to Increase Your Accounting Expertise

Labor statistics show that professionals with expertise in accounting, forensic accounting and financial data protection are in demand. To meet this industry need, the university offers a CPA Examination Preparation Undergraduate Certificate for non-accounting business students studying criminal justice, law enforcement, information technology and intelligence, as well as small business owners. This certificate provides you with the knowledge needed to pass the Uniform CPA Exam. (Note: check with your state’s Board of Accountancy to understand their eligibility requirements for taking the CPA exam and for obtaining licensure.)

The Graduate Certificate in Accounting is intended for mid-career professionals in industry, consulting and government. This certificate builds upon your existing accounting knowledge by providing a better understanding of advanced accounting topics, and also offers the opportunity to fulfill the education requirements of the CPA exam.

Enrollment for all of these new academic programs began this month. For additional details, contact an admissions representative at the university.
