Soldier for Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Army veterans, including the pursuit of their education and employment goals. Its mission: to “(connect) Army, governmental, and community efforts to build relationships that facilitate successful reintegration of our Soldiers, Retired Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families in order to keep them Army Strong and instill their values, ethos, and leadership within communities.”

Lt. Col. Ryan Raymond is Soldier for Life’s Education Director. In his post for Army Live, the U.S. Army’s official blog, Raymond addresses a few myths concerning veterans who are leaving the service and exploring college. For instance,

Many have established formal programs to ensure Soldiers’/Veterans needs are accounted for in classrooms and business practices. Additionally, in 2008, local groups of Veteran students nationwide formed Student Veterans of America, a national coalition operating on more than 1,100 campuses, which advocates, connects and shares best practices among this population.
